Our Wedding Wish-List
Dearest Relatives & Friends,
In a typical chinese wedding custom, “ang pows” and gold jewelries are common gifts to the newly married couple. However, the tradition is slowly changing & may possibly evolves in the future. Other nature of gifts are now being given by well-wishers to assist the couple in setting up their new home or funding the couple’s honeymoon.
” Originally, the purpose of inviting guests was to have them witness a couple’s marriage ceremony and vows and to share in the bride and groom’s joy and celebration. Gifts for the bride and groom are optional, although most guests attempt to give at least a token gift of their best wishes. Some feel that, for the expense and effort being put into showing their guests a good time and to wine and dine them, the guests should reciprocate by providing nice gifts. No etiquette book or rule condones this belief – Wikipedia“
So, we have decided on a Wish-List of Our Own in order to help well-wishers in deciding their gifts for this occassion. This is also to avoid us receiving gifts which will be of less use to us. Mind you, it is not that we do not appreciate your efforts & thoughts for us. We just don’t want money to be wasted nor to keep double of each item we already have in our little apartment.
If you would like to give us a gift, please do consult us before you purchase them. We will then be able to advise on where or how to get them, or we will be more than happy to assist in making the purchase ourselves.
Once again, we want you to know that we do not expect anything from our guests except for your wonderful presence in our joyful occassion. Please come with an open heart to eat, drink, talk, laugh & share our happiness together. We thank you for being there for us throughout the good and bad times.
